From an early age, I learned that asking hard questions of those in authority came with repercussions. As a child of the 1960’s, I was raised in the be seen and not heard generation…and by all means, don’t ask why? Later, during my 30’s and 40’s, I often wished I had a wise spiritual mentor who could help me tackle my toughest theological questions that weren’t spoken about in church, but that wise mentor never showed up…
Then, in 2020, when the pandemic hit and no one had any answers, I unplugged from all outside media and voices to seek God in earnest prayer and a water-only fast for the first time. While face down on the floor, I heard the Holy Spirit speak to my heart in a profound way that changed everything. In a dramatic, deeply personal encounter with Yeshua (Jesus), I made the decision to leave my compromised life behind to unequivocally serve Him as Lord.
My purpose and mission through my writing and work is to invite like-minded souls, who are desperately seeking truth, to encounter the ultimate resolution in the person of Jesus Christ.

For me, the spiritual journey is not separate from everyday life or the environmental, cultural context we are born into. Our experiences and the people closest to us help shape our reality and yet, alone in His Presence, we discover a deeper reality that transcends the limited confines of our natural experience.
Away from the noise, surrounded by nature, on the banks of a sparkling mountain river, the soul can finally expand and breathe. This concept reminds us of the thirsty deer panting for water in Psalm 42. In the same way, the diligent truth seeker discovers that the voice of God becomes clearer when the cacophony and responsibilities of everyday life are muted.
This is the driving force behind the vision we have for our historic riverfront farm, at the edge of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. My husband, Steve, and I are currently developing a sanctuary shaped around quiet moments of reflection, creative inspiration, and communion with God in His creation. We look forward to welcoming guests to Sanctum River Lodge in early 2028.
Karen’s journey is shaped by a desire to diligently seek truth in the word of God, and to remain open and teachable as we submit to the Holy Spirit in our everyday life.
The true disciple's journey begins with being born again (John 3:3). Karen invites the seeker to move beyond familiar expressions of faith bound in tradition to be born from above as Yeshua (Jesus) taught.
Karen encourages honest questions, deeper reflection, and a willingness to study the word of God with a receptive heart, even when it leads somewhere unexpected (John 8:31-32).
Karen believes that the key to living a victorious life of faith is only possible through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, the supernatural evidence that indwells the true believer (Romans 8:9).
