Divine Health

Until I experienced supernatural healing of a 20+ year diagnosis of chronic PTSD and alcohol addiction, I erroneously believed, like many in the mainstream church today, that divine healing is elusive and not a guarantee for followers of Christ. I now know that this is a false doctrine and completely contrary to the word of God. 

Sickness and disease are never God's will for His children. The enemy has deceived many into believing the lie that God uses sickness to somehow "teach" or "discipline" - This is another lie. Many use the scripture regarding Paul's thorn to justify this argument but there is absolutely no scriptural evidence that the "thorn" was an illness. Paul himself stated that it was a "messenger of Satan to buffet me" lest he be exalted because of the abundance of revelations he'd received. Previous to this verse, in 2 Cor. 11:23-20, Paul describes the numerous afflictions he suffered for the gospel and never mentions a sickness or illness. The expression, "thorn in the flesh" is a metaphor for continual annoyance or trouble and was first mentioned in Numbers 33:55 to describe a people and the consequences of not driving out inhabitants per God's command to the Israelites entering the promised land. 

The overall character and nature of God as Healer, is revealed through HIs name, Jehovah Rapha (Ex. 15:26) in the OT and  is personified through the life of Jesus Christ who healed all who were oppressed of the devil (Acts 10:38), the true author of sickness and disease. 

As believers, we hold to the standard of His word as our ultimate authority and must take our stand to enforce the victory we have in Him, regardless of what we see in the natural. True faith walks by faith, not by sight and believes that what He says is true (John 14:12-14). You and I have the same Spirit in us that raised Jesus from the dead that gives life to our mortal bodies (Romans 8:10-11) and we have been commissioned by Jesus to heal others, Mark 16:16-18.

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed (Strong H7495, rapha - to cure, to cause to heal, make whole) Isaiah 53:4-5.,    

Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness - by whose stripes you were healed (Strong G2390, iaomai, to cure, heal, make whole), 1 Peter 2:24.    

And these signs shall follow those who believe; In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will be no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover, Mark 16:17-18.
